Record breaking 2013!
Last year was record-breaking for Zagreb’s tourism, surpassing even the goals an independent agency had set up for 2015!
Last year, Zagreb was visited by almost 810 thousand tourists, who accounted for a total of 1.4 million overnight stays, which marked a 15% increase in arrivals and a 12% increase in overnight stays.
Of the total number of visitors, 650 thousand were foreigners who accounted for more than 1.1 million overnight stays. Therefore, the number of foreign guests increased by 17% on 2012, and the number of overnight stays increased by 18% this year. German guests accounted for the highest arrival numbers; they were closely followed by guests from Italy, the United States, Great Britain and Japan. German guests also took the lead in the number of overnights, followed by tourists from the United States, Italy, Great Britain and France.
In terms of tourism performance figures, last year was even better than 2008, the most successful year for Zagreb’s and Croatian tourism. Interestingly, tourism figures achieved by the Croatian capital in 2013 even surpassed the goals set by an independent consulting agency for 2015!
