Restoration of the second largest organ
The organ in Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall, the second largest in Croatia after the one in the Zagreb Cathedral, has been restored to its original glory. Famous Croatian musicians will perform on it during the Organ Maestro concert in January.
The organ in Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall, the second largest in Croatia, after the one in the Zagreb Cathedral, has been completely restored. The work was begun during the summer months of last year and continued this year. It was carried out entirely by a Zagreb-based company, “Heferer”, the only company in Croatia that specializes in restoring organs. Top class world musicians have performed on this organ, and the tradition will resume already next month at the concert of Organ Maestros. The first to play the restored organ will be prominent Croatian organist, Ljerka Očić. The digitally controlled organ in Lisinski was installed in 1974, it has about 5,000 pipes; after 35 years it has been returned to its original condition. According to the Zagreb based specialist company “Heferer”, after the restoration, the organ will achieve its true sound and the highest possible degree of instrumentalization. Many musicians who have already started playing on the organ have already voiced their satisfaction with the reconstruction results. They are looking forward to pleasing Zagreb's audiences with the high-quality sounds of the organ.
