Sting to Appear in Lisinski

The charismatic musician and former frontman of the rock group “The Police” will hold a concert on February 11th at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall. The audience in Zagreb will hear the singer go classical and perform music from the renaissance period together with the Bosnian lute player Edin Karamazov.

The appearance in Zagreb will conclude the tour for the two musicians, which kicked off last year in November with a concert at the Sydney Opera House in Australia that also featured the small chamber choir Stile Antico.

The musician, Sting, who is best known for his world success with the rock band “The Police”, will perform a variety of musical genres for the audience in Zagreb. He put the group together in 1997 at the initiative of American drummer Stewart Copeland, who was also a member together with British guitarist Andy Summers. The group recorded a total of nine albums and they performed in Croatia twice. Both concerts were held in the Arena in Pula and were part of their two world tours – “Mercury Falling” in 1997 and “Brand New Day” in 2000. Sting started showing interest in the renaissance music already while he was leading the band. More than 20 years ago he had discovered works by composer John Dowland (1563-1626) and in 2006, together with Edin Karamazov, he released the first classical album titled “Songs From The Labyrinth” covering the reneissance composer's music.
