Sweet Zagreb: Tastes Like Chocolate
A versatile offer of pastries and chocolate will complement the spirit of the upcoming holidays. The manufacturing of these products has a long tradition in Zagreb, and there is even a museum dedicated to it.
The confectionary industry in Zagreb has existed for more than 110 years. In 1911 a factory was opened in the city which became famous for its high – quality chocolate and other sweets so these recognisable flavours have brought joy to generations of citizens. Based on this tradition as well as modern trends which acknowledge the effect of quality chocolate on health, including a positive influence on mood and stress reduction, a rich offer of chocolate and sweets was created, offered by numerous pastry shops in Zagreb.
Zagreb’s Museum of Chocolate is an important stop on an interesting and certainly very tasty exploration of the range of desserts available in Zagreb. Located downtown, the Museum takes you through the world of chocolate and its history from ancient Indians, South and Central America to the present and allows you to get to know all secrets of cocoa origin and manufacturing and of the quality final product based on it. Of course, tasting of nine different types of chocolate is part of the tour, and workshops of praline making are available if given prior notice.
The Museum of Chocolate is a perfect place for a family visit and friendly mingling, but it is also a place from which you will take the best of the world of chocolate as a precious souvenir and a reminder of an attractive, sweet Zagreb.
