A three-day event will be organized in Zagreb from July 9th to 11th to mark the 158th anniversary of the birth of the genius and our country's great, Nikola Tesla. It will be the first celebration of Nikola Tesla’s Day.
This year’s jubilee fifth event, Tesla & Friends, will start with the international conference “Tesla in Zagreb” at the Croatian Chamber of Economy - Komora Zagreb, and renowned Croatian and foreign experts will talk about Tesla’s legacy. On July 10th, the programme will continue with the laying of a wreath at Nikola Tesla’s monument. That same evening a traditional gala dinner will take place at the Esplanade Hotel with an award ceremony for the "Nikola Tesla – A Genius for the Future" prize. The invited guests will be shown the video “Children of the World for Tesla’s Birthday” which was prepared by the UN and UNDP representative offices in Croatia to mark the great scientist’s birthday anniversary.
On the third day of the event, a lecture titled "Nikola Tesla – An Inventor with an Eye to the Future", will be held at the Technical Museum, and the whole event will end in the evening with a festive programme at Bundek Lake, including a projection of the animated movie "Nikola Tesla’s Secret Laboratory", the documentary "Mechanical Figures", which was inspired by Tesla, and a performance by the Zagreb Dance Ensemble and the Nimbus Dei instrumental ensemble.
This year’s event Tesla & Friends is once again being organized by the Association Nikola Tesla – A Genius for the Future under the auspices of the speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Josip Leko, the Ministry of Science, Education and Sport, the Croatian Commission for UNESCO, the City of Zagreb, the Zagreb Tourist Board and the Croatian Chamber of Economy - Komora Zagreb.
All the happenings, apart from the gala dinner and the annual award ceremony at the Esplanade Hotel, are open to the public and free of charge.
