The Abrakadabra Zoo!
The nights between October 7th and 31st will be lively at the Zagreb ZOO thanks to the Abrakadabra Zoo, an educational programme which familiarizes children with Croatian fairytales and legends and teaches them certain values by means of an event similar to a stage-play.
Every night throughout October, witches, fairies, wizards and many other mythical creatures will descend upon the Zagreb ZOO as part of the Abrakadabra Zoo event. Among them will be numerous intriguing and sometimes frightening characters from Croatia's history, fairytales and legends. They will all be introduced to visitors by the famous witch of Maksimir.
This educational programme is aimed at the youngest visitors of the always attractive Zagreb ZOO, with a goal of instilling certain values in them by means of an event similar to a stage-play. This year, the youngsters will have the opportunity to learn that each action has a consequence and that it is only our pure and honest heart which makes us great human beings. The programme will begin with an evening walk through the ZOO, with hand held torches as the only source of light, and with the witch of Maksimir and other characters of legends, myths and fairytales as guides. The tour will continue along a specially designed trail through the pavilion where the children will get acquainted with the animals that come to life at night and those which are connected to various popular beliefs. That, however, is not all that the ZOO has to offer, so bring your children along and let them enjoy what we have prepared for them.
The programme will take place in two groups every day between October 7th and 31st. Each group, of up to 24 participants, will spend three hours of one of the scariest but also the most entertaining evenings they have ever had at the ZOO. The programmes for the first and second groups begin at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively. The event is intended for families with children older than five, while children up to the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are already available at a price of 35 kuna for children up to the age of 14 and 60 kuna for adults. They can be purchased at the ZOO educators' office on workdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. or reserved by telephone 01/ 7788 534, as well as purchased at Životinjski kutak (Animal Corner) on Vlaška Street 105 every workday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. and on Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
