Between January 15th and 18th, the Student Centre will be the venue for the first Zagreb Guitar Festival, featuring the greatest guitarists from Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia and other countries. The festival was conceived as a specialist gathering of guitarists of all kinds of profiles, from students and professionals, to fans of classical and jazz guitar.

The festival will also feature an international guitarist contest, as well as various workshops led by the most renowned Croatian and international pedagogues, which gives young artists the opportunity to learn from the best. Jazz concerts will take place every evening as part of the event Zagreb Guitar Night, and there will also be a fair of guitars, guitar builders and guitar equipment.

The opening ceremony will take place at the Croatian Music Institute, and it will feature a solo concert by Zoran Dukić, one of the most prominent guitarists of the new generation, a professor at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, and the music schools in Barcelona and Aachen. Petrit Çeku, one of the best young Croatian guitarists, will also hold a solo concert, while the club Sova will be the venue for a performance by the exquisite Croatian jazz player, Ante Gelo, with his band Apollo 4.
