Several hundred of Zagreb’s citizens took part in creating the Millennium Photograph of “The Liveliest Christmas Tree in the World”, which was shot by famous photographer, Šime Strikoman, in front of the Zagreb cathedral just before Christmas.
The photograph captures the moment when the citizens formed their bodies into the shape of a Christmas tree and letters spelling out “Zagreb”. For the photographer behind the project, Šime Strikoman, this was his 222nd Millennium Photograph, in succession, which he captured from a height of 40 meters.
Since the photo shoot took place at dusk, the participants all lit sparklers at the same time, contributing furthermore to the special appeal of the photograph. After the photo shoot, all participants were given gingerbread hearts which had been used to decorate the living Christmas tree. In addition, the mixed cathedral choir sang “Fall from the Sky” and lights in the live nativity scene were turned on towards the end of the ceremony. The live nativity scene will remain on display in front of the Zagreb Cathedral until January 6th and it features plays with amateur actors who portray the holy family, the wise men, the shepherds, and the citizens of Bethlehem.
The Millennium photo shoot in front of the cathedral was successfully realized with the support of the Zagreb Tourist Board.
