The Museum of Arts and Crafts - An exhibition of ceramics by Edo Murtić

Until the beginning of next year, the Museum of Arts and Crafts will feature a representative exhibition of ceramics by Edo Murtić, whose versatile creative opus made a great mark on the cultural life of Croatia in the second half of the 20th century.

Until January 3rd, the Museum of Arts and Crafts will be the venue for an eagerly awaited exhibition of ceramics by the renowned Croatian artist Edo Murtić (1921 – 2005). It is the artist’s first comprehensive exhibition of ceramics, a lesser known aspect of his versatile creative opus. The exhibition features works from his last themed opus, “New Abstraction”, with an accent on original murals. The exhibition also features models, sketches, photographs and plates from the opus, which are part of the private collection of the Murtić Foundation.

With his unique creative opus, Edo Murtić marked the cultural life of Croatia in the second half of the 20th century, leaving numerous artworks behind him. He was a versatile artist who used various techniques in his painting, but he had a special affinity towards ceramics. He intensively worked with ceramics in the last years of his life, so ceramics make up for a significant aspect of his huge opus.

Edo Murtić held more than three hundred independent exhibitions and he participated in as many group exhibitions worldwide, while his work can nowadays be found in many public and private collections all around the globe.
