Did you know that Zagreb is the host of a wild, unique and always full of surprises Triathlon – surfing urban race which will take place on May 5th in various city locations under the name SUPer Surfers Challenge Zagreb 2012. Be prepared not to be surprised that day when you see somewhat unusual groups of people engaged in even more unusual activities.

This year, the SUPer Surfers Challenge Zagreb 2012 will be 400 per cent more demanding and 1000 per cent wilder than ever before! Therefore, be in Zagreb on May 5th and experience the exciting, adrenalin and fun-packed race as an observer, because this is an event that may be hard to experience anywhere else.

The event is a unique concept of an urban surfing race which hides many surprises behind its motto: Running-Tram-Stand Up Paddle. It is bound to equally entertain the participants and the spectators.

The race is tough and it is not only about winning but also surviving the many surprise tasks which the participants have to perform while chance passersby are laughing at them. The fate of each participant will largely depend on luck, not only on their stamina and fitness.

The race starts at City Centre One, one of the most visited shopping centres in Zagreb. As previously, the participants will start the race carrying a 3-metre-long Stand Up Paddle surfboard under their arms. Their first task will be to run approximately one kilometre to the first tram stop in the Prečko neighbourhood. The participants carrying their surfboards will certainly evoke laughter and the experience will surely be memorable for the passengers on the crowded trams. The tram will take them to Ban Josip Jelačić Square in the city centre. Still holding their surfboards, they will proceed to the most popular promenade in Zagreb, the place people come to see and be seen. A lot of fun will once again be had by all as the participants will have to entertain passersby and learn a special dance. Once they have mastered the seemingly easy task, they will race to the following location – King Tomislav Square. The next short tram ride will provide them with a welcome respite, but it will again involve a special tram task.

The last stage of the race will take place at Zagreb's Lake Jarun where the participants will have to brace themselves for the most difficult part of the race; a 4.5 km long Stand Up Paddle competition. But even before they start the last race, once again the participants will have to do the dance they learned in the city centre, most certainly to the delight of passersby.

The race is expected to end at Jarun around 3 p.m. While they are waiting for the winners to be announced, visitors will be able to attend a presentation of the SUPer Fitness programme. After the exhausting competition, during which the participants will even die laughing despite exhaustion, a somewhat less demanding event, the Humanitarian Journalist SUPer Race, will be organized for the first time around the Island of Love at Jarun.
