Theatre Exit Summer Nights

For the third consecutive year, Theatre Exit Summer Nights will take place in the atrium of the Arts and Crafts Museum. This year’s event has been split into two parts and it has be given an international twist thanks to the London-based Ad Infinitum Theatre which will perform its awarded shows.

Once again, theatre lovers have something to look forward to this summer in Zagreb: theatre performances under the open sky. The Histrion Troupe has been staging performances at Opatovina in the Upper Town since 1986 and will do so again this year. In addition, the doors to the atrium of the Arts and Crafts Museum in the Lower Town will be opened for the third consecutive time to welcome audiences to Theatre Exit Summer Nights.

This year, the Theatre Exit Summer Nights event has been split into two parts. The first part started on 28 June and it will continue until 21 July. Besides the staples of the Exit Theatre’s repertoire, such as ‘SHAKEspeare na Exit’ (SHAKEspeare Bottoms Up), ‘Kako misliš mene nema!?’(What do you mean I am not there), ‘Balon’ (A Balloon) ‘Glumac je glumac... je glumac’ (An Actor is an Actor is.... an Actor), ‘Pas, žena, muškarac’ (A Dog, a Woman, a Man), CABAres CABArei, ‘Kontrabas’ (Contrabass) and ‘Munchhausen’, the troupe will also premiere the play ‘Bend’ directed by Saša Anočić.

During the second part of this festival, which will start on 30 August, the Ad Infinitum Theatre from London will present ‘Translunar Paradise’ the awarded play about death and remembrance written and directed by George Mann, who is also the main protagonist of the ‘Odyssey’, a one-man drama directed by Nir Paldi which was awarded at the famous Fringe First Festival in Edinburgh. Moreover, Theatre Exit will present Boris Kovačević in Bjarni Haukur Thorsson’s monodrama ‘Dad’ directed by Rakan Rushaidat.

Free creative workshops will be organized for children aged five and older whose parents have purchased tickets for any of the shows. There are up to twenty places available per show and the children’s attendance must be announced in advance by telephone at 091/ 3704-000.

In the case of rain, the shows will start a half hour later at the Exit Theatre building at Ilica 208. To find out more about this year’s Theatre Exit Summer Nights, please visit the official web page at www.teatarexit.hr, or follow the event on Facebook and Twitter!
