Top class concerts for the 140th anniversary

To mark 140 years of existence, members of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra will be hosts to numerous renowned names from the world of classical music in the 2010/2011 season. Among others, the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall will be the venue for performances by Chinese violoncello sensation, Ning Feng, and the famous Finnish pianist, Olli Mustonen, while a festive season atmosphere will be greatly inspired by the performance of the London Symphony Orchestra, which is scheduled for December 18th.

Although the 2010/2011 season cycle has already begun with a number of performances by world renowned classical musicians, the dedicated audience of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra can expect many more musical treats at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall. Possibly one of the most anticipated concerts, a performance by the London Symphony Orchestra, will take place on December 18th. November, however, has its own treats in store; performances by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, backing Eugen Indjić and Sergei Rachmaninoff on November 5th and, on November 19th, with brilliant violoncellist, Sergei Antonov. A week later, the repertoire will be complemented by the concert “Let’s Go to Vienna”, which will be performed on November 26th by the Zagreb Philharmonic soloists.
The Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra will perform yet another unforgettable Christmas concert for the Zagreb audience on December 17th. The following day, the London Symphony Orchestra will perform, conducted by world-famous conductors Valerij Gergijev, Sir Colin Davis, Daniel Harding and Michael Tilson Thomas.
As in previous years, this concert season is divided into three main cycles; the White, Red and Blue Octave, and each includes eight exciting concerts, which will take place until the end of May 2011.
The truly renowned musicians, who will be performing with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra during the upcoming period, are further proof that these are top class music events, which will bring Zagreb up to par with other global music destinations, Among them are the Chinese violoncello sensation, Ning Feng; the charismatic Russian violoncellist, Aleksander Kniazev; the famous Finnish pianist, Olli Mustonen; and an array of other international musicians, such as Simon Trpčeski, Krzystof Penderecki, Dmitri Kitayenko, “Zagreb’s Japanese son” Kazushi Ốno, Uroš Lajovic, Leopold Hager, and Mihailo Sinkevič.
