Zagreb Be There

If you are planning to get to know Zagreb or start exploring it in a somewhat different way, and if you are a mobile device aficionado, you can now rely on the new mobile application Zagreb Be There.

The Zagreb Tourist Board has launched a new mobile application, Zagreb Be There, which provides smartphone users with suggestions for various themed sightseeing tours of the city. For the time being, the application offers five possible routes, each presenting Zagreb in a somewhat different way. One of the routes, Space Explorer, features the locations of all the planets in the solar system grounded around the city in art installations by Ivan Kožarić and Davor Preis. The Hidden Spots route reveals the last water well in the Upper Town, the abandoned cemetery on Jurjevska Street and the street pump, one of the many from the Pimp My Pump series, dedicated to the late Croatian musician Dino Dvornik.  The Indie Zagreb route features the Museum of Broken Relationships, the Museum of Street Art and the memorial plaque to Tomislav Gotovac, Zagreb, I Love You, on Ilica.  The other two routes are Refreshing and Classical Zagreb. The project was designed by the agencies Bruketa&Žinić OM and Brlog in cooperation with the Zagreb Tourist Board.

The application can be downloaded on iPhone and Android mobile systems and it is based on the so-called gamification principle, i.e. on the rules applied in computer games, which are very popular at the moment. Tourists using the Zagreb Be There application are encouraged to check in virtually at every location they reach, and when they complete the routes they can claim awards such as discounts on the price of entrance tickets. The partners of the project are the Museum of Broken Relationships, Lauba, the Technical Museum, NextBike and the Zagreb Zoo.

The application can be downloaded from the micropage betherezagreb.com, or by using the QR code on the leaflets which can be found at all the important tourist points in the city.
