“Zagreb, Zagreb” – the best national tourism film

At the recent 13th International Tourism Film Festival in Solin, the short promotional film by the Zagreb tourist board, “Zagreb, Zagreb”, directed by Matej Meštrović, was proclaimed the best national tourism film.

As the recipient of the highest recognition at the recent 13th International Tourism Film Festival held in Solin, the film “Zagreb, Zagreb”, produced by the Zagreb Tourist Board, will soon be screened to more than 100 million people in as many 47 countries worldwide.

The film won the most prestigious national award, the “Baldo Čupić”, at a festival that was held concurrently with three large tourism events – “Interstas”, “ITF'CRO” and “Kea/Free-Cro”, which took place in Split during mid-October. The grand finale and awards ceremony were held in nearby Solin. Though a total of 152 films from 47 countries worldwide were submitted for the festival, only 31 made it to the final selection.
The prestigious “Baldo Čupić” award was established in 2002 in memory of the radio and television journalist, and named in his honour. As a prolific filmmaker, his films had won many awards at international tourism festivals.

Film “Zagreb, Zagreb” is a short promotional video edited to the music of an old pop song “Vraćam se Zagrebe tebi” (“Returning to you, o Zagreb”).
The central character in the film is the known violoncellist from Zagreb, Ana Rucner, who uses music to promote Zagreb’s beauty all over the world. Not just any kind of music either; the refrain of the song “Vraćam se Zagrebe tebi” represents a musical invitation of sorts for all guests to come and visit Zagreb.
The film “Zagreb, Zagreb” was produced by the Zagreb Tourist Board and it was arranged, written, directed, and edited by Matej Meštrović.
