Pimp my pump

Public taps or water pumps appeared in the late 19th century and were set up in neighborhoods where households had no connections to the city’s water supply. Although the name “Victoria Wells” appears in the records of the city’s water supply authority, the citizens very quickly started to call them Željezni Francek (Iron Franz) or Željezni Martin (Iron Martin), a name that has survived to this day.

The team gathered around the art collective “Pimp my pump” was in charge of their artistic renovation and they painted more than a hundred pumps almost a decade ago.

Over the years, the project was somewhat forgotten, but it is now being revitalized and upgraded at the initiative of the Zagreb Tourist Board. In addition to adapting the routes to epidemiological measures because they allow for individual tours, the project also carries a message of sustainability.

Many pumps are still up and running, and the water inside is drinkable, so we invite all recreationists and random passers-by to raise awareness of sustainability and fill their bottles with fresh water from the pump, thus reducing the impact of plastics on the environment.

Fear and Loathing

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is irresistibly reminiscent of Zagreb in the 1990s. The combination of war madness, rave movement and general inequality in society depicted in this film adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson’s novel reminds generations from the late seventies of the charms of growing up. So that's why the movie got its own pump. No, it's not a hallucination.

The image of Homer Simpson could probably be found in a dictionary of symbols under lazy and rude, and yet this did not in the least jeopardize his title of one of the most beloved animated heroes of all time. It takes a tremendous amount of courage to work in a nuclear power plant where he most often eats, drinks beer, or simply sleeps. D’oh.
