Sljeme Cable Car

The new Sljeme cable car allows passengers to enjoy an impressive view of Zagreb and its surroundings.

The cable route covers a distance of 5017 meters and has 84 gondolas with ten passenger seats each. The exterior of the gondolas is fitted with a rack for skis and sports equipment. The ride between the departure station in Gračansko dolje and the Sljeme viewpoint will take 16 to 22 minutes, depending on travel speed, and has the capacity to transport around 1500 passengers per hour.

The valley station is located next to the tram turnaround, line 15 (Mihaljevac - Gračansko dolje), in Gračansko dolje, whereas in the cable car zone you can find bus stops providing lines 140 (Mihaljevac - Sljeme), 227 (Svetice - Gornji Bukovac - Gračansko dolje) and 233 (Mihaljevac - Markuševec). There is a two-story public underground garage with over 200 parking spaces located in the valley station.

Located on the first floor are ticket offices and restrooms, as well as access to the boarding area for passengers.

HOW TO GET THERE?

Bus:

The bus lines that will take you to the departure station in Gračansko polje are 140 (Mihaljevac – Sljeme), 227 (Svetice - Gornji Bukovac - Gračansko dolje) and 233 (Mihaljevac – Markuševec). There are bus stops on Gračanska cesta in the area of the Sljeme cable car.

The bus timetable is available HERE.

Tram:

Should you decide to get to the cable car by tram, you need to change trams at the Mihaljevac turnaround which can be reached by tram lines 8 or 14 and continue the ride using line 15 (Mihaljevac - Gračansko dolje). By the fourth, i.e., the last stop in Gračansko dolje, you will spot the stunning building of the Sljeme valley station. The ride from the Mihaljevac turnaround to the cable car takes 5 minutes.

Car:

Those arriving by car will find a two-story underground parking garage with over 200 parking spaces in the valley station building. The price of parking in the garage is 6 HRK per hour.

I am looking forward to Zagreb as a destination where I always feel good. It seems it has been too long since the last time I was here, although it was just a year or so.

Jesse Eisenberg (actor) spent the autumn in Zagreb in 2007: Zagreb is an incredible town. I enjoyed sightseeing the old parts of the town, and at night I went to clubs. I was thrilled that it was near Austria and Italy, so I visited Venice, Milan, Ljubljana, Graz, Split... over the weekends.
