12th SIEF 2015

Between June 21st and 25th, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences will be the venue for the 12th congress of the International Society for Ethnology and Folklore – SIEF. More than a thousand experts from the fields of human and social sciences from 65 countries will participate.

Between the 21st and 25th of June, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences will be the venue for the 12th congress of the Society for Ethnology and Science – SIEF. With more than a hundred confirmed sections, this year’s congress will be the biggest in the fifty years of the society’s history and it will bring together more than a thousand experts from the fields of human and social sciences from 65 countries.

With this year’s theme - Utopias, Realities, Heritages: Ethnographies for the 21st Century, SIEF is looking to contribute to the debate on the most pressing modern-day issues. One can participate in the congress in various ways, ranging from hanging out with exhibitors, to partaking in debates, to visiting workshops and screenings of ethnographic films, or attending the fair of scientific and specialist publications, etc. The working languages of the congress are English, French and German. 

The Faculty of Philosophy will be the venue for all the events, save for the plenary presentations which will be open to the public at the Student Centre cinema.
