30th Music Biennale Zagreb: The Best That the World Production of Contemporary Music Has to Offer
From 6 to 13 April more than four hundred artists will present their best pieces from Croatian and world contemporary music production at the 30th International Music Biennale Zagreb.
The 30th Music Biennale Zagreb will be held from 6 to 13 April in various cultural institutions and in the city streets. It is the largest international festival of contemporary music in Croatia during which audience can get to know the best works of Croatian and international composers from the world.
The focus of this year's program is on the topic “City, space, music, sound” for which the organizer prepared a wide range of contemporary music events within the framework of almost fifty programs. In addition to performances of symphony and chamber orchestras and renowned soloists, the program of the festival also consists of experimental music theatre and contemporary dance, jazz, electronic and alternative music.
The 30th Music Biennale Zagreb is to open with Richard Ayres The Garden in Cinema Europa performed by an acclaimed ensemble London Sinfonietta. Zagreb audience will have an opportunity to hear this piece even before its premiere in London. Numerous Croatian authors will also present their new pieces, and there are many interesting events in the week before the Biennale which will start on 30 March. Among others from 4 April until the end of the festival visitors will be able to enjoy riding a sonic bicycle in Greta, an art gallery. This is a part of the project “Below fountains” by a British multimedia artist Kaffe Matthews who provides the visitors with an opportunity to take a 45 minute ride and experience the streets of Zagreb in a completely new and unusual way.
The Music Biennale Zagreb has been held every odd-numbered year since 1961 and it is a meeting point of numerous art fans from many countries in Europe.
