A Sporting January in Zagreb – From Top Class Skiing to Spectacular Handball
In January Zagreb will once again confirm that it is rightly known as a sporting metropolis.
On 3 and 4 January the world’s best skiers will once again gather on the slopes of Sljeme for another Snow Queen Trophy. At the Snow Queen spectacle they will christen their ski poles and battle for the flattering title of Snow Queen and King. These are the days when skiing fever overcomes the whole city and when you can ski even in the very heart of the city. The organisers are forecasting that the competition has never been more spectacular and that there will be a great many surprises for visitors.
No less attractive are the races at the World Cup in Para Alpine Skiing. Competitors will show off their skills a couple of days after the Snow Queen championship. Fans of indoor sports will be able to enjoy the matches of the European Handball Championships which will be held in Croatia from 12 to 28 January. The teams from Germany, Macedonia, Montenegro and Slovenia will be playing in Zagreb, and Zagreb Arena will host the final, deciding matches of the tournament. The Croats have high hopes, the “Cowboys” are going for European gold!
