A Wealth of Artistic Expression – Dance Week Festival and the Perforacije Festival
Artistic creations, exploring new territories, exchanging ideas and information are central to the Dance Week Festival and Perforations Festival
Dance Week Festival, held in Zagreb from 6 to 12 June, brings us the visual and dance treat “Pixel”, a performance by Compagnie Käfig which has won both critical and public acclaim. Dance Week Festival is the longest-running international festival in Croatia and is one of the largest in the region dedicated to contemporary dance. In the 35 years of its existence the festival has presented more than 700 internationally-renowned groups and is today one of the largest festivals of contemporary dance in Europe. The festival is conceived as a central point for the meeting of dance professionals from around the world, a medium for the growth of ideas and exchange of information. The festival has hosted many dancers and famous dance troupes from around the world such as Trisha Brown, Joseph Nadj, Thierry Smits, Ultima Vez and Nederlands Dans Theater.
The Perforations Festival will this year be held for the tenth time, and runs from 28 June to 3 July. This jubilee edition of the festival, which focuses on innovation in form and content, dedicates its programme to new partnerships. The theme is partnership between artists from different areas, or artists and experts from outside artistic circles, such as scientists or engineers, which can present risk, vulnerability and exposure to both parties but at the same time provides potential and a new resource.
