Are you up for some horror under the open sky?

For the second year in a row, the Fantastic Zagreb Film Festival will take place under the summer sky of Zagreb. During this attractive event, which will last from 29th June to 6th July, there will be projections of over 30 films; sci-fi, horrors, thrillers, animated films and similar genres. There will also be workshops, panel discussions, night film marathons and a number of other surprises.

After the roaring success of last year's Fantastic Zagreb Film Festival, the experience will be repeated this year between 29th June and 6th July, only with even more films, entertainment, get-togethers and surprises. As the only such festival in this part of Europe, the Fantastic Zagreb Film Festival continues to offer films from different areas of “fantastic” production from different parts of Europe and the world. However, since the organizer wishes to do more than just show films, the audiences have a lot more to gain during the festival: there will be get-togethers centred on this specific film genre, learning experiences will be provided, as well as meetings with the authors of favourite films, concerts and the like.

Last year, the festival presented 30 different titles at three locations before audiences of approximately 6,000 people. This year's programme is expected to be even more impressive, while another attractive location has been added to the festival venues. It is therefore expected that the audience will respond even more favourably and that even more fun will be had by all. Last year, the films were shown in Europe Cinema, as well as alfresco on the plateau in front of the Tuškanac public garage, and in Zrinjevac Park, and as of this year there will be another outdoor viewing location – the Summer Stage Tuškanac.

On different days and at different times, starting in the late afternoon and lasting until the early morning hours, all types of films will be shown at these three locations – science fiction films, horrors, thrillers, suspense, fantastic films, animated films, experimental films, dramas with fantastic elements, 3D films..., i.e., the type of genres which will benefit from the somewhat fantastic atmosphere of the dark night sky.

Moreover, a FZ lounge will be set up in Ham Ham Bar, which will be called Fan Fan Bar during the festival, and it will host press conferences, social events, panel discussions, special concerts and after parties. A small animation workshop will be organized for secondary school students interested in learning how to make a short animated film, from the very beginning to the moment of the computer-assisted activation. The workshop will be lead by Jasminka Bijelić Ljubić, one of the most respected authors of animated movies in Croatia.

The organizers have announced a host of other pleasant surprises for the audiences.

Last year, the festival hosted over 45 domestic and foreign VIP guests: journalists, film directors, screenplay writers and authors. And since the Fantastic Strip project has been launched this year and its results will be published in LIKE! magazine, it is expected that aficionados of 9th Art will also attend in great numbers.
