Festivals of Photography and Illustration – Organ Vida and the 36 Mountains Festival
Zagreb to host Croatian and international masters of photography and illustration.
The 10th Organ Vida International Festival of Photography will be held 10-16 September and will be dedicated to women’s issues. The central theme of the Festival is “Engaged, Active, Aware – Women’s Perspectives Now”. This is also the name of the main exhibition of this, the largest international photography event in Croatia, which will be held in the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Among other things the Festival brings us the exhibition “Vigilance, Struggle, Pride – Through Her Eyes”, which brings together 13 international artists who in their works present, explore and discuss forms of cultural expression and questions related to the constructs of identity, family and home, sexuality and gender roles, the participation of women and the politics of the female perspective. There will also be exhibitions by Spanish artist Laie Abril, American photographer Nina Berman, young Swedish artist Arvida Byström and many more.
The Festival runs 10-16 September, and the exhibitions themselves will remain open at many locations across Zagreb until the end of September.
At the fourth 36 Mountains Festival, a festival of illustration, on 6-9 September, established illustrators will be showing their work together with those selected during the Festival competition. This year’s judges selected 22 artists from a large number of entries to exhibit alongside six invited authors. The Festival also brings us a range of interesting lectures in the Oris House of Architecture. Entry to all events is free.
