Have a beer and learn something about it!

Are you interested in learning about the traditional table culture of the city of Zagreb? You absolutely must have a beer; and not just anywhere, but in the newest museum in the city – the Museum of Zagrebačka Pivovara. The museum tells the story about beer brewing and drinking traditions in Zagreb.

Since late April, Zagreb has another attraction – the Museum of Zagrebačka Pivovara (Zagreb’s Brewery) – a place where you can have a beer in an interesting and educational ambience. The museum follows in the footsteps of many other brewery museums across the globe, and its opening was initiated jointly by the Zagrebačka Pivovara and the Zagreb Tourist Board.

There is quite a good chance that the museum will become a new must-see attraction in Zagreb, especially owing to the fact that the love of beer and the beer brewing tradition are indeed inseparable from the life and table culture of Zagreb's dwellers.
Although the museum's exhibit is scheduled to expand over the next few months, what is already on display will certainly attract undivided attention. In addition, you will learn many interesting facts about the history of the Zagrebačka Pivovara and quite a lot about how beer is made. One part of the museum is dedicated to displaying the designs for the Christmas beer labels, as well as all the other beer labels and bottles which have been used throughout the brewery's lifetime.

Quite a lot of the exhibits are original objects from the brewery's own holdings, whereas the rest are faithful replicas which help to illustrate the history of Croatian brewing traditions and those of the Zagrebačka Pivovara.

The concept of the museum does not follow the principle of simply glancing at exhibits while walking past them. Visitors will have fun in the process, for example, by playing a game of hanging bowling in the same way the game was played at the time when the brewery was founded way back in 1892. And since the museum has been opened on the premises of Zagrebačka Pivovara, which also houses a remarkably large beer house, K Pivovari, you can look forward to a pleasant break while enjoying a pint of Zagreb's favourite Ožujsko beer in a rather jovial atmosphere.

This project in the making has already received word from groups of tourists who want to visit it. This is an ideal opportunity to mention another “beer-themed event” which will not be permanent but will enrich the “beer story” of Zagreb until 15th June.
All beer lovers are hereby invited to the Ethnographic Museum of Zagreb where the exhibition “Let's have a beer” provides yet another glimpse of the beer drinking culture. As mentioned, the exhibition remains open until 15th June and can be viewed every day except Mondays. A series of concurrent beer-themed events will take place on Wednesdays.
