New exhibit, different stories

If visiting Zagreb's Museum of Broken Relationships, homage of sorts to people and their (past) loves, is still on your to-do list, this is a good time to actually do it. If you have already visited the museum, why not go again – neither the museum nor the stories in it are ever the same...

The new exhibit of the Museum of Broken Relationship – a project that has won the hearts of many Croatians and people the world over on account of its human warmth, has been on display since February 20th. It features some hundred or so new human interest stories from the rich collection of as many as 1200 objects acquired from all over the world. Besides objects which bear testimony to the break-ups of love relationships, the collection also contains testimonies of break-ups in families and other relationships. At times humorous, other times tragic or even grotesque, some of the stories are results of social circumstances, while others arise from misunderstandings or a lack of understanding. Be it as it may, all of the stories bear witness to the relationships between their protagonists, but they also depict the cultural, economic, historical, political and other environments where they were created. All the stories have been translated into English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese, and they are soon to be translated into Portuguese. They are accessible by means of QR codes and by using the museum’s free Wi-Fi access.
