Stars of the Music World Head for Zagreb - Roger Waters, Rod Stewart, Editors, Mando Diao, Luis Fonsi
On 6 May 2018 Roger Waters will play Zagreb Arena. Creative genius and co-founder of the legendary Pink Floyd, Roger Waters is coming back to Zagreb to once again delight fans of truly excellent classic rock and spectacular visuals.
The tour, named “Us + Them”, began in May this year in North America where by the end of October this energetic 74-year-old will have held 61 completely sold out concerts. At the beginning of next year the tour continues in Australia and then comes to Zagreb in May. The tour, named after a song from ”Dark Side of the Moon”, comprises works from the Floyd's album of the same name, as well as “The Wall”, “Animals” and “Wish You Were Here”. This three-hour extravaganza also includes new pieces by this icon of classic rock from the album “Is This the Life We Really Want?”, released in June this year. Drones, lasers, art and video projections which accompany the songs on huge hi-res screens continue the story of the visual spectacle which began in 2010 on “The Wall” tour when we had the chance to see Waters in Zagreb. They say of this show that the production is better and more advanced than the previous one and is the best of Waters' entire career. Roger Waters will, without a doubt, take us again on a new and unforgettable musical journey. To the Arena this May!
Fans of current global hits have a treat in store on 26 November when Luis Fonsi comes to Zagreb Arena with the current biggest global hit “Despacito”. This musician, currently perhaps the greatest global attraction, is selling out all the world’s concert halls with his music and dance show, and his hit “Despacito” has been watched more than 4 billion times on YouTube. Luis Alfonso Rodriguez Lopez-Cepero was born in 1978 in San Juan, the capital city of Puerto Rico. Already as a child he started to sing and imitate popular singers. Luis graduated in singing at Florida State University, and he released his first album in 1998. It sold more than 100,000 copies which opened for Luis the doors to the Latin countries in which he became exceptionally popular. To date he has released 8 albums, but until this year he did not have a big hit in the American charts. And then “Despacito” happened…
British rock quintet Editors return to Tvornica kulture on Tuesday 17 April 2018 as part of a tour to promote a new studio album. The band led by charismatic frontman Tom Smith has devoted a fair amount of attention to Croatia in the 15 years of its career. Until now they have performed in Zagreb four times, the last time in December 2015 when they easily sold out Tvornica kulture. Tom Smith, Russell Leetch, Ed Jay, Justin Lockey and Elliot Williams are coming for the third time to the club in Šubićeva which they have already sold out twice days before their performance. Editors was formed in 2002 in Stafford, England, and after just three years they were launched among the country’s new rock stars. The greatest achievement of the group so far is its third album, “In This Light and on This Evening” (2009) with the megahit “Papillon”, and it was followed by the wonderful work “The Weight of Your Love” (2013), and the equally successful “In Dream” from 2015. The release of a new single is planned for October, while an as yet unnamed sixth studio album will be released in January.
The famous Swedish rock foursome Mando Diao is also returning to Zagreb. They will play at the Zagreb Fair, in Pavilion 9, on 7 February, organised by the INmusic festival. After their premiere performance in Croatia at the 2012 INmusic festival, Mando Diao will in February be playing their first long-awaited standalone concert in Zagreb.Mando Diao was started by Björn Dixgärd and Daniel Häglund in 1999 after several years of playing together in the band Butler. Mando Diao in a relatively short time, after a series of excellent albums and singles, gained the title of one of the most successful Swedish music exports. After a compilation of their greatest hits, in 2012 the band turned to its audience at home and recorded its first album in the Swedish language. In 2014 they experimented with the electro rock sound and recorded their seventh studio album, “Alita”. In May of this year Mando Diao recorded their eighth studio album “Good Times” and opened up a new chapter for the band, and they return to Croatia as part of their European tour.
A true musical extravaganza will take place on 2 February when superstar Sir Rod Stewart will be coming to Zagreb for the first time. Rod Stewart is the man who gave us hits such as “Sailing”, “The First Cut Is the Deepest”, “Rhythm of My Heart” and “Maggie May”.His career is impressive: Sir Rod Stewart has twice been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; over a career spanning five decades he has sold more than 200 million albums around the world, and six of his albums in a row have topped the UK music charts. In the USA he has released 16 singles which reached the Top Ten. He was knighted in 2016 for his services to music and charity. This August in cooperation with the multi-platinum-award-winning group DNCE he recorded one of his most popular dance hits of all time, “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy”. Their debut performance was the main hit at this year’s MTV VMA award ceremony. Stewart’s excellent sense of humour and inimitable style guarantee a top musical experience.
