Take a break on artistic installations

Zagreb’s popular “sea”, the Jarun Lake, will gain yet another new feature this autumn; visitors, walkers and recreationalists will have a possibility of taking a break on real artworks that will be installed along the track for coaches, and which will serve as benches for resting.

As of this autumn, Jarun will gain yet another original new feature: artistic installations that double as resting benches! It is a project entitled Sit down!Zagreb, and the installations will be located along the track for coaches at the Jarun lake.

The project is the brainchild of the young businessman from Zagreb, Ante Bogdanić, after which the city authorities launched a public competition for the best designs. From a total of 322 projects that were submitted for the competition, the best 18 have been selected to be successively placed along the track this autumn.

Each bench will have its sponsor and will feature the names of their designers. Their common purpose will be high functionality, which will provide walkers and recreationalists with adequate rest and relaxation surfaces. This will surely become yet another interesting feature at Zagreb’s popular lakeside destination.

Jarun consists of two connected lakes, the Large and the Small lake, which are surrounded by an asphalt path intended for walkers and recreational cyclists, as well as rollerbladers. Nearby, there are numerous sports courts and recreational fields adapted for both children and adults. This is just a small part of the diverse sporting, catering, and entertainment opportunities that are on offer at Jarun. We would also like to point out the part of the offer adapted to persons with special needs, which includes a playground with state-of-the-art equipment and anti-stress surfaces for children with developmental difficulties, as well as a multi-sensory park for the blind and visually impaired.
