The Backo Mini Express - The largest railway model in south-east Europe in Christmas spirit
For the second year in a row, the Backo Mini Express, the largest railway model in south-east Europe, is taking part in the Advent in Zagreb project. In a festive set-up it offers a reflection of reality on a small scale, and it is enjoyed by everyone who comes to see it.
If you are a fan of trains, and you have not yet seen the largest railway model in south-east Europe – the Backo Mini Express, make sure to do so this month because this mini railway set-up is once again taking part in the Advent in Zagreb project.
The model, located on Gundulićeva Street number 4, became an attraction shortly after it was opened to the public, and it has drawn numerous children as well as adults from all over Croatia and abroad to Zagreb. The model spreads across 75 square meters and it consists of more than a hundred trains travelling along 1050 metres of track. Some of the trains now have Christmas decorations, and there is also a special train, the Agram Advent Express, painted in the colours of Zagreb. The atmosphere is additionally enhanced by holiday music and other interesting programmes, while costumed staff offers information in Croatian and English.
The participation of the Backo Mini Express in Zagreb’s Advent story is backed by the Zagreb Tourist Board, and its Christmas edition will remain open until January 8th 2017. The largest railway model in south-east Europe can be viewed from Monday through Saturday between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. On Sundays, it is open between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and admission is free for all visitors.
