The Junior World Championship in synchronized skating
Having hosted some of the biggest synchronized skating contests thus far, Zagreb will be in charge of the organization of the second ISU Junior World Championship, which will take place on March 13th and 14th at the Dom Sportova Sports Hall ice rink.
On March 13th and 14th, the ice rink at Dom Sportova will be the venue for the second ISU Junior World Championship in synchronized skating. More than 500 skaters from 19 countries, members of the best 24 teams in the world, will partake in the competition. Thereby, Zagreb will become only the second city in the world, after Helsinki, to have been entrusted with hosting all major contests in this sport.
Thus far, Zagreb has hosted two Senior World Championships in synchronized skating, in 2004 and 2009. The Junior World Cup was held in the Croatian capital in 2002, while the Dom Sportova ice rink has served as the venue for 12 Zagreb Snowflakes Trophies. In the fourteen years of organizing major events in this sport, Zagreb has hosted more than ten thousand skaters, coaches and judges, members of 129 teams from 21 countries from all continents, as well as more than 95,000 spectators who came to enjoy the events. The Croatian Skating Association, the organizer of the competition in Zagreb, is convinced that this year’s competition will again attract numerous visitors.
Tickets for this event are available for purchase at the promotional price of just 20 kuna for two persons.
The world title at the last competition, two years ago in Helsinki, was won by the Finnish team Musketeers and their trainer, Anu Oksanen, who also led her senior team to the World Cup gold medal. She also arranged the choreography for the Zagreb Snowflakes seniors this year.
