The unique atmosphere of the Amadeo Stage

The programme of the Amadeo Stage which continues from mid-August until September 6th, will once again attract numerous aficionados of “serious” cultural events. Located within the Atrium of the Croatian Natural History Museum in the Upper Town, the repertoire includes known theatre pieces, recitals, and concerts of classical, as well as modern music.

Aficionados of cultural events should certainly make their way to the Atrium of the Croatian Natural History Museum in the Upper Town, where the second phase of the popular Amadeo Stage will be ongoing from August 16th until September 6th. This traditional summer event features an average of fifty theatre plays, concerts, and film projections with the participation of more than two hundred renowned artists from Croatia as well as abroad. However, what makes this event truly special, apart from the quality program, is the location.

The Croatian Natural History Museum is one of the largest and most significant museums in Croatia, and its “crown jewel” is its atrium, which is the venue for the Amadeo Stage program. The museum is located within the ancient walls of Zagreb’s Upper Town and, along with the Atrium, it represents a unique cultural monument. The Atrium has recently been restored; despite its modern style the space still exudes an ancient atmosphere while the architecture provides excellent acoustics.

This makes the Atrium a unique space for organizing serious cultural programs and tourists can experience it for themselves every evening, starting from 9 p.m. when plays and concerts are scheduled to begin. The events programme is indeed diverse, acts include the Mariachi Los Caballeros on August 18th and the popular Croatian band, the Bambi Molesters, on August 26th.

A day later, the band Jewsers will present their traditional Eastern European Jewish music, while August 31st is reserved for the musical-poetical recital by famous Croatian musician and bohemian, Darko Rundek. Among many theatre plays, the Zagreb audience will have an opportunity to enjoy “Visiting Mr. Green” on the 21st and the 22nd of August; a day later the play “Medea Material”, and on the 24th and the 25th of August the play “Arto” performed by the Aplauz theatre.
This year’s Amadeo Stage will end on September 6th with a performance by one of the best known Croatian male vocal bands, klapa “Nostalgija”.
