The Zagreb Flute Ensemble starts a new season
The Zagreb Flute Ensemble starts the new concert cycle, “The Three Seasons”, at the Museum of Contemporary Art. The idea behind the concert programme is to offer audiences a new and unconventional approach to a mixture of more serious and contemporary music.
If you enjoy attending concerts, make sure to plan a visit to the Museum of Contemporary Art, where the Zagreb Flute Ensemble will hold the new concert cycle – “The Three Seasons”. The all-female ensemble, comprised of ten top-class flutists, will perform a total of three concerts and offer audiences a new and unconventional approach to a mixture of more serious and contemporary music. The project is a result of cooperation between the ensemble and young artists from the Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts, as well as the Faculty of Textile Technology, under the supervision of the young director Marina Pejnović. She has devised a special concept for each of the three concerts in order to highlight their themes. The first concert, titled “Kretanja” (“Movements”), is to take place on March 8th. It will be dedicated to women’s everyday life, her living space and chores. The young artist has found inspiration for this music event in feminism, i.e. in the coexistence of arguments in favour of the traditional woman on the one hand, and the woman who strives to make the best of the freedoms which she has gained during the 20th century, on the other. In that, the ambition is not to prove the truthfulness of either, but just to present things as they are.
The second concert, titled “Migracije” (“Migrations”), scheduled for June 28th, will be dedicated to Croatian composers living abroad. Although the emigration of artists from their countries is often perceived negatively, there is also an upside to that: memories of homeland enhanced by the life colouring experiences of their new surroundings are often reflected in the émigré composers’ music.
The final concert, titled “Putovanje” (“Journey”), is scheduled for November 15th. It will be dedicated to the encounter of the distant cultures of the East and West; their differences, friendships and intertwinement.
The Zagreb Flute Ensemble concerts at the Museum of Contemporary Art are backed by the Zagreb Concert Management.
