Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall: Formidable! Aznavour as Homage to the Artist and to French Chanson
A seven-decade music career of Charles Aznavour, but also his entire life have been told and sung in the musical Formidable! Aznavour. This show, which is homage to French chanson and its passionate performer, is coming to Zagreb in late December.
The musical and life journey of Charles Aznavour, French composer, writer and chansonnier, is depicted in the musical Formidable! Aznavour which is coming to the stage of the Vatroslav Lisinski Hall.
Aznavour, who passed away in October last year, wrote more than 800 songs, recorded more than 1200 of them in various languages, and sold 180 million albums worldwide during seven decades of his career. An amazing life story of the artist is told using his powerful and unforgettable songs. The brilliant performance of the singer Jules Grison, who is considered the most talented performing artist of his generation, together with an impressive performance of the entire ensemble and excellent scenery as well as the use of photography and videos, led to the fact that this musical is considered the most beautiful homage to the artist. In 2016 Aznavour himself allowed the preparation of this musical, impressed with the musical Piaf! The Show. He was inspired with a wish for his songs to be embraced by younger generations.
Like the one about Edith Piaf, this musical is also the work of a world-renowned producer Gil Marshall. It is an additional proof that it is an excellent show dedicated to one of the biggest chansonniers and song writers of our times.
The performance in Zagreb is part of a large international tour. The show in the Vatroslav Lisinski Hall, which will be the last staging this year, is preceded by several shows in Canada.
