Marking Zagreb Day on Friday, May 31st, the Zagreb Tourist Board is gifting the citizens of Zagreb and visitors a guided tour of Zagreb.
Marking Zagreb Day on Friday, May 31st, the Zagreb Tourist Board is gifting the citizens of Zagreb and visitors a guided tour of Zagreb. The guided tours start at 10 am, noon, 6 pm and 9 pm from the Tourist Information Centre on Ban Jelačić Square and reservations are not necessary.
The tour includes a visit to the Upper Town and encounters with figures from the Zagreb Time Machine, as well as street musicians. The tour lasts two hours and ends at the Strossmayer Promenade. At noon you can witness the changing of the guard of the Honorary Cravat Regiment on St Mark's Square, and the customary procession through the streets of the Lower and Upper Town. Starting at 5 pm ZET’s brass band will held a promenade concert at the Music Pavilion in Zrinjevac park.
The City of Zagreb and the Zagreb Tourist Board will also gift citizens and visitors rides in tourist buses supplied by Zagreb Transport (ZET) which will pass by the most important tourist, historical and cultural sights on the Upper and Lower Town. The bus tour starts at noon, 1:30 pm, 3 pm, 4:30 pm and 6 pm from Bakačeva Street. Free tickets for the cabrio bus ride can be obtained at the Tourist Information Centre on Ban Jelačić Square. The number of tickets is limited due to the size of the bus and will be available on Wednesday, May 29th, from 9 am and on Thursday, May 30th, from 10 am to 4 pm.
Also worth noting is the procession devoted to Our Lady of Kamenita Vrata, the patron saint of Zagreb. The procession commences after Mass held at the Zagreb Cathedral at 7 pm and concludes with prayers at the shrine of Our Lady of Kamenita Vrata.
