Changing of the guard - Guard of Honour of the Cravat Regiment

At the time of the Thirty Years' War in the 17th century, the Croatian Light Cavalry, reputed for its exceptional prowess, joined the French army. Military skills and the original appearance of Croatian soldiers were endorsed by the founding of the Croatian regiment "Royal Cravates" within the French royal army in 1664. A special feature of the uniform was a red scarf – a cravat that the girls tied around the young men's necks before going to war. The tie, today an unavoidable fashion accessory of every man, comes from these brave Croatian soldiers.
