84th Zagreb International Autumn Fair

The 84th Zagreb International Fair will take place between the 16th and 21st of September. Products and services will be showcased at a number of specialized exhibitions organized during the biggest fair event in south-east Europe.

The Zagreb International Fair traditionally marks the beginning of business autumn in Zagreb. The biggest fair event in south-east Europe, composed of a number of specialized exhibitions, marks the end of the summer lull and presents an overture into the eventful business autumn. This year, between the 16th and 21st of September, the fair’s 84th edition and its specialized exhibitions will cover a number of different areas such as economy, energy, ecology, innovations, new products and technologies, the packaging industry, transportation, logistics, to name but a few.

Last year there were 1,500 exhibitors from 51 countries worldwide, but the Zagreb International Autumn Fair is a lot more than just a big exhibition. It is also a place where conferences, professional gatherings and business meetings of people from all over the world take place.

Zagreb's fair tradition is very old and goes back to 1242, when King Bela IV bestowed Zagreb with a Golden Bull, thus giving it the status of an autonomous town which had the right to hold fairs. Throughout centuries, fairs were held in the squares, in front of St Mark's Church in the Upper Town and in front of the Cathedral. As the town developed, fairs started spreading further afield. The first great international exhibition was held in Zagreb in 1864 as the predecessor of what is today known as the Zagreb Fair. Side by side with Frankfurt, Leipzig, Paris and Padua, Zagreb stands among the five European cities with the longest fair traditions. Since 1925, it has been a member of the Union of International Fairs, and also one of its co-founders. In 1990, the World Trade Center Zagreb (WTC), a member of the World Trade Center Association (WTCA), was opened at the Zagreb Fair.

After the most significant autumn fair, which is held in September, in October the Zagreb Fair grounds will continue to serve as the venue for attractive trade exhibitions such as the very successful Ambienta - International Furniture, Interior Decoration and Supporting Industry Fair, Interliber – the International Fair of Books and Teaching Applications, as well as many other specialized exhibitions that will be organized before the end of the year. Business guests account for a large share of the guests at Zagreb's fairs and the offer of numerous five and four star hotels has been adapted to suit their every need.
