A Jubilee Marked by an Impressive Program

A very impressive cultural program has been prepared for the jubilee 10th St. Mark's Festival which will take place between 25 April and 18 May and will feature many prominent musicians.

Another attractive cultural event has become an inseparable part of spring in Zagreb. St. Mark's Festival is celebrating its jubilee 10th anniversary. The festival that is scheduled to take place between 25 April and 18 May kicked off with a ceremonious concelebrated mass at St. Mark's Church whose name the festival bears. A new musical piece, «Missa ad honorem sancti», by Anđelko Klobučar was performed on that occasion in this spiritual temple which is also a cultural monument and the symbol of Zagreb's Upper Town. The mass was performed by the Zagreb Soloists and the Oratory Choir of St. Mark's Church. Vladimir Kranjčević was the conductor and the soloists were mezzo-soprano Martina Gojčeta – Silić and bass Miroslav Živković. Throughout the festival, various musicians will enhance every Sunday mass.

A very impressive cultural program has been prepared for this year's jubilee edition of St. Mark's Festival, which will include the appearances of internationally renowned musicians. Among them are the choir, orchestra and soloists of the Cathedral Music from Graz, who will perform Hayden's oratory "The Creation of the World" at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on 10 May. The concert will feature excellent soloists, the soprano Margareta Klobučar, the tenor Herbert Lippert and the bass Thomas Tatzl. The renowned Slovenian mezzo-soprano, Marjana Lipovšek, will sing solo on 10 May at the Croatian Music Institute accompanied by the pianist, Antony Spiri. Vladimir Krpan will appear at the same venue on 5 May and perform a piano recital featuring a selection of Beethoven's piano sonatas. The young organist and cymbalist, Pavle Mašić, will hold a cymbal recital at the Golden Hall in the Upper Town.
