A New Postcard from Zagreb
Zagreb, a city with a rich history, beautiful surroundings and a host of cultural attractions, is constantly changing. One of its new highlights is a set of attractive fountains which greet visitors at the entrance to the city with their changing lightshow, and serve as yet another eponymous landmark of Zagreb.
The recognizable new fountains at the entrance to central Zagreb, located on Hrvatska Bratska Zajednica Street, stretching from the National University Library to the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall, serve as water features from spring until autumn, while they will be used as an ice rink during the winter.
The author of the project is Helena Paver Njirić. The basic lighting of the central field between the two roads comes from the fountains. The changing colours of the water is a fascinating sight and so the fountains became a very popular hangout for Zagreb's citizens and guests not long after they were opened. While they help people keep cool during the summer, according to announcements, the fountains will be turned into an ice rink during the winter.
Therefore, the unused space between the two roads now has a new feature that will undoubtedly become a new recognizable landmark of Zagreb, as well as a new gathering spot for Zagreb's citizens and their guests. It is now also a suitable location for organizing various events. The additional attraction of the new fountains is their proximity to two of Zagreb's cultural symbols - the modern building of the National University Library and the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall.
