An International Athletics Event
Croatian athletic stars Sandra Perković, Blanka Vlašić, Ana Šimić and Stipe Žunić and many other top international athletes will compete at the Mladost Sports Park athletic stadium on September 2nd, during the 64th Boris Hanžeković Memorial.
The 64th Boris Hanžeković Memorial will take place at the Mladost Sports Park athletic stadium on September 2nd. Besides the home-grown athletic talent, including disc thrower Sandra Perković, high jumpers Blanka Vlašić and Ana Šimić, and shot putter Stipe Žunić, many other top international athletes will compete for highly coveted awards. To mention but a few, medal winners from the recently held European Athletic Championship in Zürich, including the 400-metre race winner Martyn Rooney, the attractive long jumper and bronze medal winner at the championship, Darija Klišina, silver medal winning hurdler William Sharman, and many others. The former 100-metre race world champion, Kim Collins, will also come to Zagreb together with the Olympic silver medal winner, Ryan Bailey, sprinter Richard Thompson, while the veritable star of this athletic meeting is bound to be the former world record holder in this discipline, Asafa Powell…
A shot put competition will be held on the eve of this athletic meeting, thereby extending the Boris Hanžeković Memorial to two days. For the first time, this competition will be held against the backdrop of the Croatian National and University Library, next to the water fountains in Hrvatske Bratske Zajednice Street, and a live television broadcast will go to over 120 countries worldwide.
Croatian star athletes will certainly be motivated to break new personal and national records before their own audience, or at least match the best results from Zürich, where Sandra Perković scored a hat trick as the first athlete who has ever done that.
