The beginning of summer in Zagreb will once again be marked by the large Park In Zagreb Festival – a summer festival of entertainment and culture, which will be held between June 28th and July 11th in Zagreb’s popular Ribnjak Park.
The park is located just a ten minute walk away from the city’s main square, which is the reason why many refer to it as the green oasis in the heart of the city. It is particularly attractive in the summer when its thick trees provide essential shade from the hot sun. If we add an array of music, art, literature, and other educational programs for all generations to the mix, the park becomes an ideal place for fun and gathering.
The festival has been organized since 2006 by members of Artim Production, The Kula Association, the Ribnjak Youth Centre, and various other centres and clubs, as well as numerous individuals. Its goal is to offer the citizens of Zagreb and their guests a place where they can experience something interesting and new each day. Therefore, the program will consist of concerts, plays, workshops, projections, exhibitions, performances, films, themed workshops aimed at all generations, literary programs, etc. It is important to note that festival participants are usually not professionals but amateurs, Croatian as well as foreign, who have something to say or show. One of the main goals of the festival is to unite young people, who always understand each other very well, to enjoy the atmosphere together.
Apart from the aforementioned program, in which there will be a large number of participants, this year’s festival will also once again feature an array of Zagreb customs, such as flea markets and street entertainers who will be strategically located along the park’s paths to entertain visitors on a daily basis.
The program will ensue every day in three time slots: morning between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., afternoon between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., and evening which will begin at 8 p.m. and go on for as long as there are visitors.
