Glenn Miller Orchestra in Zagreb again

Although Glenn Miller has not been among the living for almost 70 years, the good old swing rhythms popularized by one of the most prominent musicians of the early 20th century will again bring the audience of the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall to its feet. On 13th January, do not miss the Glenn Miller Orchestra, which will perform in Zagreb as part of their regional tour “In the Miller Mood”.

They will perform in the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb on 13th January. Although Glenn Miller himself has not been among us for nearly 70 years, the orchestra that pays tribute to his name continues to spread good vibrations around the world. The concert in Zagreb is part of their regional tour which bears the evocative name “In the Miller Mood”.

Glenn Miller was one of the best known American jazz musicians, arrangers and composers of the swing era. He mysteriously went missing in 1944, but what he left behind were numerous musical compositions and even more fans around the world. The musical world still considers him the unrivalled king of swing. The crown is proudly borne by the members of the honourable Glenn Miller Orchestra. Judging by previous experiences, the orchestra will again play in front of packed halls, and Zagreb is the first city in which they will perform in this part of Europe as part of their new regional tour.

Glenn Miller gained great popularity during his lifetime. This has never changed, not even after his disappearance at the age of 40 in a plane crash over the English Channel. He is still remembered for his extraordinary talent and perseverance, but first and foremost for his innovativeness. He was one of the rare musicians in the late 30s of last century who managed to introduce harmony into the relationship between solo players and an orchestra in such a fresh and unprecedented way. His hit compositions could be heard on every radio station around the world; his name was inscribed in the Hall of Fame and he won several Grammy Awards.

After the great tragedy struck, the leadership of the orchestra was taken over by orchestra member Tex Beneke, who was later followed by Ray McKinley. In 1978, Will Salden became the orchestra's European promoter. He will also lead the orchestra at the Zagreb concert.
