To the great joy of all Croatian K1 fans, for the first time in history, this year’s K1 WGP finals will not be taking place in Japan but rather in the Croatian capital, which is a major exclusive for the city, the country and all of Europe. This decision was made mostly thanks to the best known Croatian K1 fighter, Mirko Filipović, whom the audience will have the opportunity to support in this great final on 15 March at Arena Zagreb.
Numerous European K1 fans were pleased to learn the news that this year the K1 WGP (World Grand Prix) will not be taking place in Japan for the first time in history; instead it will be held in Zagreb! The Croatian capital won the bid to host the final against New York, mostly thanks to our fighter, Mirko Filipović – Cro Cop, who will also be fighting in the finals.
The event will be a real fighting spectacle, so make sure to reserve a trip to Zagreb for 15 March. Apart from Cro Cop, seven other modern day gladiators will partake in the finals, including Moroccan Badr Hari – one of the favourites for the title, Azerbaijani Zabit Samedov, Egyptian Hesdy Gerges, and American Jarrell Miller - Vladimir Klitschko’s sparring partner, whom Mirko will be fighting in the first fight.
Croatian audiences will surely be supporting their fighter, which will add excitement to the spectacle, but as Mirko Filipović said himself: Almost everyone is a favourite, so it will truly be an unforgettable, adrenaline packed night!
The Fight Channel presents: K-1 WGP Finals, which is the official title of the spectacle, will take place at Arena Zagreb before 17,000 spectators. TV houses from 110 countries around the world have announced live broadcasts of the event.
