Life as written by a 2CV – 65 years of love
Although it was opened only in July this year, the Ferdinand Budicki
Automobile Museum is already a huge hit among visitors from all over
the world, and it now features its first theme exhibition dedicated to
the 65th anniversary of the legendary 2CV.
Until November 1st, the Ferdinand Budicki Automobile Museum will be the venue for an exhibition dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the legendary Citroen 2CV. It is the first theme exhibition at the recently opened museum which has been generating lots of interest among visitors from all over the globe since day one.
The exhibition dedicated to this interesting car, loved by some, and slightly less liked by others, features six cars, including the oldest 2CV in Croatia, built in 1958, as well as the newest model built in 1990. There are also the 1964 model with suicide doors, the Charleston model, an off-road version, and a customised version.
Apart from the aforementioned cars, visitors can also view an exhibition of 260 photographs taken between 1939 and 1990, featuring scenes from the history of the development and production of the 2CV.
Among them are the original press-release photos used for promotion and marketing, photographs of the Lavallois factory, as well as the once very important Cimos factory of the former Yugoslavia, photos of the first Citroen meet in the world, held in 1973 in Poreč, and photos of the 1970 Paris-Kabul 2CV adventure. That is not all – classic car aficionados can also expect an array of other interesting happenings such as lectures, mechanical workshops at the museum’s garage, and rides in 2CVs...
Since its opening, the museum has been attracting a lot of attention from visitors, not just because of its exhibitions of classic cars and motorcycles, but also due to the offer of various educational and entertainment events. The museum was named after Ferdinand Budicki of Zagreb, who owned the first car in Zagreb, an Opel in 1901. He was also the first Croatian to pass his drivers’ test, and the first car dealer in Croatia. He also made a major contribution to the development of the Croatian cycling and automotive sports and culture.
