The Tuhelj Spa is a popular destination that is located in Krapina-Zagorje County, some forty kilometers northwest of Zagreb. It was first mentioned in Roman times as a source of mineral water, whose medicinal properties help with the treatment of arthritis, respiratory diseases, gynecological disorders, sciatica, neuralgia and other medical conditions. Its main feature is peloid – a healing mud used by many spas. Having invested in the development of attractive tourism facilities, the Tuhelj Spa has become one of the best wellness centers in continental Croatia and it draws numerous visitors. The complex consists of an attractive Water Planet with indoor as well as outdoor swimming pools, and various sports and recreational facilities which include tennis and basketball courts, a football field, ping-pong tables and mini-golf courses. Guests can choose to stay in one of the 138 rooms of the Tuhelj Spa Hotel or taste a typical medieval dish at the 18th century Mihanović Manor. The manor bears the name of Antun Mihanović, the author of the Croatian anthem, who once lived there.
