Over two-million passengers per year

The Zagreb International Airport hit a record figure of two million passengers in one year in November. The upward trend in passenger turnover is certainly influenced by the fact that Zagreb has become an increasingly desirable destination on the international tourist map.

Zagreb airportTowards the end of November, this year’s two-millionth passenger was checked in at Zagreb Airport making this airport the first ever in Croatian history to reach the two million passenger mark in one year. Last year, 1.9 million passengers travelled via Zagreb Airport, while a total of 2.2 million passengers are expected this year.

According to the statistics published for the first ten months of this year, Zagreb Airport registered an 11.7 percent passenger increase compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of flights went up by 4.1 percent, while 8.8 percent larger profits were realized against a mere 4 percent increase in expenditures.

Zagreb Airport continues to record a 10 percent increase in passenger traffic every year, which is twice as much in relation to other airports of similar size across the European Union. Such high increase rates are undoubtedly influenced by the fact that Zagreb has become an increasingly desirable destination on the international tourist map.

According to estimates, Zagreb Airport will have annual traffic of 2.6 million passengers by 2010, while this number will grow to reach more than six million passengers a year by 2030.
