PMS – The Area of Manufacturing Freedom

In mid-October, the most attractive street in Zagreb, Tkalčićeva, received yet another attractive addition to the existing host of galleries with unique products. The Area of Manufacturing Freedom (PMS) is a place where patrons will be able to view and purchase handmade products made by up-and-coming local artists.

The Area of Manufacturing Freedom, PMS for short, is a new gallery of handmade items which opened its doors to visitors at number 61 Tkalčićeva Street, the most beautiful and most attractive tourist street in Zagreb.

All those looking to buy a unique item of clothing, knick knacks for home, jewellery, watches and quirky souvenirs will certainly hit the jackpot at this place. Even if you do not have any immediate purchase plans, it does not really matter because the gallery is not only a shop but also an exhibition space. The idea behind the opening of the new gallery arose from the need to offer yet another place in the city where up-and-coming local artists will exhibit their works. This, however, does not mean that what they have to offer lacks in quality compared to what is usually found in the works of famous designers. On the contrary, the shop will offer excellent unique handicrafts which you will not be able to find anywhere else but in this gallery, and at reasonable prices at that.

The project is the brainchild of Marta Grbešić, a young designer herself as well as a costume designer who wanted to provide young people like herself with an area where they could exhibit their works and thus gain prominence on the market of applied arts. Fortunately enough for those who cannot resist such an attractive temptation, the range of products on sale at the PMS is varied and colourful indeed.

If you plan to take a stroll through Tkalčićeva Street, which, indeed, is a must during your visit to Zagreb for those who wish to really get to know the city, make sure to search for this new gallery among the host of cafes and pubs. There is really a lot to see and choose from: paintings, sculptures, unique pieces of clothing and footwear with designers’ signature, watches, bags, jewellery made from unusual materials, belts, vases, picture postcards and notebooks, photos of all sizes, lamps and even wallpaper.
