Slalom races of the World Ski Championship

Between the 4th and the 6th of January, Sljeme Mountain will be the venue for the Vip Snow Queen Trophy slalom races of the World Ski Championship for men and women, which will bring together the best skiers in the world for the seventh year in a row.

The beginning of the year in Zagreb is traditionally marked by a large sporting event – the Vip Snow Queen Trophy slalom races of the Audi FIS World Ski Championship for men and women. It will be held for the seventh time year in a row and, as in previous years, the best slalom skiers will be competing for the Snow Queen Trophy at Sljeme, in races that will take place between the 4th and the 6th of January.

The whole story about the Ski Cup in Zagreb began with the most decorated world skier: Zagreb-born Janica Kostelić; though she no longer skis professionally, this sporting event still gathers large numbers of spectators. The reason for this is the original atmosphere, unusual for skiing competitions, which is created by the audience itself – selflessly cheering on each contestant. This is why Zagreb attracts not only the best skiers in the world, but also numerous television stations, which makes this race one of the best-covered races of the World Ski Championship. As an integral part of this competition, there will also be a humanitarian race that will feature current, as well as former, top-class skiers.

Once again guaranteeing a very interesting program, the organizers have announced numerous other concurrent events and, as in previous years, there will also be the draw of starting numbers at Zagreb’s main square, followed by a diverse entertainment programme.
