Spend a sweet day at the Kraš Eco-Park
Do you want to spend a pleasant autumn day outdoors and combine enjoying nature with indulging in Croatia’s sweetest products? No problem. Head to Bratina, the location of the sweetest eco-park in the country, which is owned by Croatia’s largest confectionery maker, Kraš!
The village of Bratina in the Pisarovina municipality, situated about thirty kilometres from Zagreb, just off the road towards Karlovac, is the location of a fairy-tale-like eco-park owned by Croatia’s largest confectionery maker, Kraš. If that does not sound convincing enough, let us reveal what this oasis of nature and sweets has to offer to children and older generations.
It is a unique, sustainable development project in which all its features, ranging from little log cabins for overnight accommodation to a cow farm, are all part of an eco-friendly narrative set in a tame rural environment. All of them bear a genuine eco certificate, as they have been built from natural materials, while the bucolic setting, equally enjoyed by all generations, is additionally flavoured with original sweet tastes provided by Kraš. The bungalow part of the park features wooden huts named after Kraš’s popular products (Bajadera, Bananko, Dorina and Bronhi), which provide lodging for up to 100 people. There are also two larger houses, Tortica and Krašotica. Among the amenities are a swimming pool and a barbecue area, which make the place ideal for organizing birthday parties, hen or stag nights, etc… True romantics can opt for the studio-apartment Slatka Tajna, which overlooks the gazebo and the lake, offering a truly unique view of the entire park.
You can visit the Domaćica restaurant to refresh yourself. The menu changes based on what is available that season and it includes carefully selected delicacies of local cuisine. Of course, most organically grown ingredients come from the park itself where environmentally friendly farming practices are fostered with great care. The restaurant’s indoor seating area can accommodate approximately 100 guests, while during favourable weather many more than that can find seating on a large open air terrace overlooking the lake, as well as in the nearby garden pavilion with a barbecue.
The surrounding woodlands provide ample opportunities for visitors to take a peek into the life of the native wild game which happily stroll on the gentle slopes. Children will enjoy learning firsthand about nature by observing deer, pheasants, partridges and other bird species that inhabit the area. Local organizers make sure that fun is had by all who come to see what is on offer in the eco-park. Children’s excursions are a real joy and they include mechanical horse races, milking of mechanical cows, tug of war competitions, pony rides, sack jumping, boat rides, learning about old trades, art workshops, treasure hunts and playtime with mascots from Kraš’s Animal Empire. The offer includes multiple day children’s excursions, while older generations will enjoy original team building activities such as a can-hitting competition, mechanical cow milking, paintball, cycling and quad riding. All visitors can also avail themselves of the football, volleyball, tennis and bocce facilities.
