Theatre plays at Opatovina

Opatovina in the Upper Town will again become a stage where the actors of the Histrion Theatre Troupe will appear every day until 2 September during the 27th Zagreb Histrion Summer.

Yet another Zagreb Histrion Summer has kicked off. Like in previous years it is taking place in the beautiful ambiance of Opatovina in the Upper Town, where actors of the Histrion Troupe perform plays before a full house under the open sky.

This year’s 27th edition of the Zagreb Histrion Summer opened with a premiere of “Well-mannered Child” by writer and director Kalman Mesarić. The original premiere of this play took place in 1936 on the auxiliary stage of the Croatian National Theatre (Small Theatre), nowadays the Gavella Theatre. The comedy draws roars of laughter by highlighting the gap that exists between cities and villages. Therefore, we are sure tickets for the show will be in high demand.

Apart from the “Well-mannered Child”, this year’s repertoire of the Zagreb Histrion Summer includes the plays “Greetings from Remetinec”, “The Chimneysweep”, “Tonight I Will”, “A Singer-Machine”, and “A Tribute to Viki”. Plays will be performed every day until 2 September. This year the plays will begin at different times, starting at 7, 8, 9:30 or 10:30 P.M.
