Two new shopping centres
In April, Zagreb was enriched by two new, large shopping centres: Cvjetni, located in the heart of the city; and Kvaternik Plaza, located only several tram-stops from the city centre. Both shopping centres feature new stores.
A major shopping fever befell Zagreb in April with the opening of two new shopping centres; a special treat was the long-awaited opening of two stores of the famous Swedish brand, H&M. In mid-April, the shopping centre Cvjetni was opened; its modern features perfectly blend into Zagreb’s existing cityscape, right in the middle of the bustling city-centre. The shopping centre spreads across three floors, some 9000 square meters in total, and apart from the aforementioned H&M, which takes up around 2000 square meters, shoppers can choose from a selection of many globally famous stores and brands.
Apart from a diverse shopping offer, visitors can also enjoy an excellent culinary selection, ranging from luxurious restaurants to classic snack-bars and cafes. However, what makes this shopping centre truly special is its location and the way it blends in with its surroundings; practically the entire interior is a covered street, and thereby an attractive pedestrian zone located in the very heart of the city. The entire passage will be heated in winter and cooled in the summer, which will certainly make it very popular on a daily basis.
The second mentioned shopping centre is the Kvaternik Plaza, located in the vicinity of Kvaternik Square, towards the east of the city… just three tram stops away from the main city square. This shopping centre also offers numerous international stores and brands, and it also features luxurious apartments as well as a large underground garage for both tenants and visitors. Along with these two new shopping centres, which will additionally contribute to the image of Zagreb as an attractive shopping destination, additional businesses are scheduled to open in the already-renowned Arena Zagreb shopping centre. This shopping centre is located on the city limits towards Karlovac and, among numerous global brands, the second H&M store in Zagreb – spreading across 2000 square meters – opened there in April.
A special novelty of the Arena Centre is the newly-opened cinema in Zagreb: the Cinestar Arena IMAX. Its opening put Zagreb on the prestigious list of IMAX; the Zagreb cinema is one of 400 that have been opened across the world. The cinema contains a total of 493 seats and its dimensions measure 24.3 x 13.7 meters; in other words, 333 square meters, which makes it one of the three largest in Europe. The gigantic IMAX screen is covered with silver in order to increase the amount of light that is reflected back at the audience. In order to achieve perfect sound effects, the screen is perforated by thousands of little holes in order to let through the sound from the speakers located behind. The IMAX cinema experience definitely casts a new light on the usual way of watching movies.
