Yamato Drummers at Arena Zagreb

On October 22nd, Arena Zagreb will be the venue for a performance by the Yamato Drummers. They will visit Zagreb for the fourth time and present the best of their skills as part of the tour with which they are celebrating 20 years of existence.

Fans of the mighty sounds of the Yamato Drummers brace yourselves as Zagreb will once again be host to the best known Japanese drumming ensemble in the world. This time they will perform at Arena Zagreb on October 22nd and then in Rijeka, Zadar and Split.

During this concert the Yamato Drummers will perform as part of the “ROJYOH – The Best on the Road” tour, marking the 20th anniversary of the group’s existence. It will be their fourth performance in Zagreb, where the shows by the Yamato Drummers have always sold out. They held their first performance in Zagreb at Dom Sportova Sports Hall in 2010, while their following show, organized just a year later in Ban Josip Jelačić Square, was attended by a staggering fifty thousand spectators. The Yamato Drummers performed their last show in Zagreb in 2012 to a sold out crowd at the Dražen Petrović Basketball Centre.

This unique music group was formed in 1993 in Nara, the birthplace of the Japanese Buddhist culture. The group’s performances on their taiko drums, which have their roots in Japan’s ancient past, evoke ancient rhythms of Japan, and therefore the group members are even considered ambassadors of Japanese culture. The 400 year old taiko drums are made of wood and the most impressive among them is the two metre tall, 500 kilogram heavy “odaiko” drum.

Thus far, the Yamato Drummers have held 2,600 performances in 52 countries, therefore gaining a great number of fans worldwide.

Tickets for their performance in Zagreb, priced between 180 and 350 kuna, can be purchased at all Tisak stores, via Eventim and via Muzika.hr – ticket sales.
