Zagreb is featured in the “World Film Report” Documentary Series

A crew of one of the most popular Chinese broadcasting companies, China Central TV, visited Zagreb in search of material for the television series “World Film Report”. For seven years now, the series has been covering the film industries of various countries and has shown the beauties, sights and tourist destinations of these countries. So far, the Chinese television crew has visited some 40 countries. They have chosen Croatia as a country famous for its animated movies.

A seven-member crew spent a week in Zagreb. They attended the opening ceremony of Animafest 2007, the world festival of animated film. They visited various places in the capital and its surroundings which served as locations for some popular movies. The spotlights of their show about Croatia will be the locations where some films were made, such as Winds of War, starring Robert Mitchum in 1983, The Last Will, 2001, and the series about the legendary Indian chief, Winnetou. The program, with an audience of 8 million in China, will speak about the Croatian film industry, animated movies, people, culture and customs. 

After Zagreb, the Chinese crew visited other Croatian cities.
The program’s producer and anchor, Nina Wang Tong, believes that the Chinese audience will find the program interesting, particularly in view of the fact that the movies ‘Tko Pjeva Zlo ne Misli’ (He Who Sings Means no Harm) and ‘Valter Brani Sarajevo’ (Valter Defends Sarajevo) are extremely popular in China, and the program will tell them a lot about Zagreb and other Croatian cities.

The television crew members were particularly glad to meet Relja Bašić, the star of ‘Tko Pjeva Zlo ne Misli’. The popular Mr. Fulir took them to the locations where the film was made. He also brought them to his home and showed them photos taken during his travels to China.
